The West Virginia State Fire Marshal’s office was notified of the flames, and Fire State Assistant Marshal George Harms responded to the scene late Monday, Roberts said.
Roberts said the 15,000-square-foot building, which was once home to the Distribution of Martin, seemed to be a total loss, noting that a large beam in the steel frame was circled by the heat of the fire.
Roberts said he was told that there were 30 or more vehicles in the building, as well as auto parts and equipment, during the fire.
Volunteer fire companies in the district were assisted at the scene by the Martinsburg Fire Department and fire-fighting units from Veterans Martinsburg Medical Center and 167 Airlift Wing from the West Virginia National Air Guard based at Eastern West Virginia Regional Airport.
